The first in a series of books on themes in the psychology of the Fathers of the Orthodox Church. This volume contains studies on humility and Orthodox spirituality, humility and the spiritual world of Dostoievsky, and the teaching of the Desert Fathers on humility.
About the Authors
The Most Reverend Dr. Chrysostomos is a Senior Scholar at the C.T.O.S. He completed his studies in history (with a concentration in Byzantine historical theology) at the University of California, the Licentiate in Theology at the C.T.O.S., and his graduate study in psychology at Princeton University. He has held professorial posts at the University of California, Ashland Theological Seminary, and Ashland University and visiting professorships at the Theological Institute of Uppsala University (Sweden) and, as a Fulbright Scholar in Romania, at the University of Bucharest, the Alexandru I. Cuza University of Iaşi, and the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism. His Eminence is also former Executive Director of the United States Fulbright Commission in Romania.
Mother Michaela received her B.A. degree (magna cum laude) in English and creative writing from Ashland University, where she was a College Scholar. About the Prefacer
The late Reverend Mother Alexandra, formerly Her Royal Highness, Princess Ileana of Romania, was founder and Abbess of the Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Ellwood City, PA, under the jurisdiction of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate in America. She was one of the last of the Hohenzollern royal dynasty, helped to inspire the establishment of the C.T.O.S., and was the author of a number of books and articles on Orthodox spirituality.
