“Orthodoxy is both a unique entity, as a perfect repository of spiritual wisdom, and a philosophy or a way of life that incorporates into its witness universal truths that belong to all of us as human beings and which call us to a standard of Truth that we must understand in a broad way, beyond the purlieu of crude denominationalism and free of the pathology of mere religion. In my study of Unamuno, I wish to present ideas and struggles that represent Orthodoxy as it draws all reflective people into a magnetic spiritual commonality residing in the criterion of Truth.”
—From the Prefatory Remarks
